This wine is a special and therefore unique blend (tempera) of the Dalmatian grape Plavac Mali (both sisters of Zinfandel and Primitivo) and the indigenous grape Vranac blended with the two internationally renowned varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Grape: Plavac Mali 40%, Vranac 20%, Cabernet Sauvignon 20%, Merlot 20%.
Taste: The wine has a dark red colour with crystal purity and clarity. On the nose you get the aromas of ripe, red fruit. The wine has a rich, harmonious flavour with a pronounced freshness and soft tannins.
Serve with: The wine can be complemented with a lot of dishes like all types of red meat, game, pasta with tomato sauce or truffle and goes well with fish steaks or spicy vegetarian dishes.
Ideal serving temperature: 18 degrees Celsius.
Alcohol percentage: 13,5%.
Extra information: Traditional method of maceration in old oak barrels of 500 litres and aged in oak barrels of 225 litres and 500 litres for 12 months. The wine is made in Bekovac in northern Dalmatia where the grapes grow. The aging takes place in the winery in Aljmaš, a village along the Danube River.
The winery: Iuris is a winery in the village of Aljmaš in the eastern part of Croatia where wine has been produced since 1910. Croatia is a small country and the philosophy of wine maker Domagoj Klasiček is that he wants to make wine that reflects the whole country. Besides the grapes from their own vineyards they also uses purchased grapes from the Danube region, Slavonia and Dalmatia.
