Description: This wine is made of one of the oldest varieties in the world still grown today. We can freely say this grape has Croatian roots (see extra information at the bottom of this description).
Grape: Silvanac Zeleni (also known as Grüner Silvaner and Sylvaner in Austria and Germany.) The variety is particular sensitive to terroir (the complete production environment including soil composition, location and climate) and can produce the premium quality wine only under specific conditions. Silvanac Zeleni from Orahovica is a prime example of that, because it found the best harmony of natural factors in the hills above Orahovica.
Taste: This wine has a specific light-green colour. It is a full white wine with particular freshness, an intensive fruity apricot aroma, which is specific for Silvanac only from particularly good years. Its taste lasts in the mouth.

The grape Silvanac Zeleni is one of the oldest varieties in the world still grown today. It was created by natural combination of Traminac (Traminer) and the archaic variety Austrian white. The grape is originating from the then existing Austrian empire, probably from Transsylvania (most likely that is where it got its name from). Later, in the 17th century, it arrived in the Danube regions, where up until the 1970’s it was the most represented variety. In the French part of the Alsace it is even present in Grand Cru sites. DNA analysis determined that the parent of the old variety Austrian white (Heunisch weiss) is the Croatian Krapinska belina (Krapina white) so we can freely say that Silvanac Zeleni has Croatian roots.
