The Bogdanuša grape is an indigenous Dalmatian grape from the Adriatic island of Hvar. Literally translated, it means 'god Godsend'. Originally, the wines of these grapes were drunk during religious festivals. The grapes grow on the UNESCO protected Stari Grad fields.
Grape: Bogdanuša (literally translated: a godsend)
Taste: Bogdanjuša is a monovarietal wine. It has a scent of yellow plums, anise and quince. The taste is lush, dry and juicy with beautiful acids.
Serve with: Serve with poultry or fresh fish. This wine is really great with all kind of cheeses as well.
Ideal serving temperature: 12 degrees Celsius.
Alcohol percentage: 11,5 %
Extra information: This wine has been named ‘super cheese wine by Betty Koster, the cheese queen of the Netherlands, as it pairs surprisingly well with many cheeses. The well-known Croatian painter Edo Murtic designed the original label. The well-know Zagreb-based designer Nenad Dogan subsequently modified Murtic’s original designed.
