This exclusive white wine from Vina Carić is made from the indigenous grape Pošip on the Dalmatian island of Hvar. The wine is very balanced by the different microclimates of the two locations where the grapes grow.
Winery: Vina Carić
Region: Hvar, Dalmatia
Taste: It is a very elegant aromatic wine with lots of minerals, aroma's of apricot and a hint of banana and honey. The finish is long and layered with few bitters and a little almond and sweet at the very end. In short; a great characterful and unique wine.
Serve with: Pošip is a wine that you can enjoy as an aperitif with a few very good green olives. But it also goes very well with raw hams, hearty fish dishes, salmon dishes, and octopus. The wine also goes wonderfully with Asian (chicken) dishes and spicy food.
Ideal serving temperature: 12 degrees Celsius.
Type of wine: Dry white quality wine
Vinification details: The wine is made exclusively in stainless steel tanks and is bottled in August. After that, the wine has matured in the bottle for a year. During this maturation the wine has developed very nice secondary aromas.
The grapes come from two locations. On the Unesco-protected Stari Grad fields, the vines produce a higher yield, which means they have higher acidity and less sugar. The other location is Ivan Dolac on the southern slopes of the sea. Here the grapes get a higher sugar content but lower acidity. The grapes from both locations are combined in order to obtain a not too heavy and nicely balanced Pošip.
Volume: 0.75 l

Extra information: Only 1400 to 200 bottles of this wine are produced per year at Vina Carić.
The wine's original label was designed by the renowned Croatian painter Edo Murtic. Its original design was later adapted by renowned Zagreb designer Nenad Dogan.
