This Navis Mysterium Undersea Amphora is a unique wine in Croatia. It is the showpiece of the Edivo winery, in fact, Edivo is the only winery that is allowed to mature Amphorae on the bottom of the sea in Croatia. This special 'Navis Mysterium Undersea Amphora' is a red wine that has been matured for no less than two years on the bottom of the Adriatic Sea. The appearance of this amphora is therefore extremely rare and the taste of the wine is incomparable.
Winery: Edivo
Region: Peljesac, Dalmatia
Grape: Plavac Mali (literally: Little Blue)
Year: 2015
Taste: This brown-ruby red wine has a soft nose with ripe plums, field herbs and cocoa nibs. The wine is very balanced with many fruit aromas of cherries and plums and secondary aromas of cocoa, coffee. The taste lingers for a long time and, as befits a true Dingač, this sturdy boy has lovely ripe tannins.
Serve with: Pašticada (beef stew), Lamb, grilled red meat with rich sauces and matured hard cheeses.
Ideal serving temperature: 18 degrees Celsius.
Type of wine: Premium quality red wine.
Vinification details: The base wine is made in stainless steel tanks over a few months. The wine is then put into Slavonian oak barrels for a year. The wines then mature further in the bottle. This Navis Mysterium is made three times with three completely different results, matured in the bottle in the cellar, in the bottle, on the bottom of the sea and (like this wine) in an amphora on the bottom of the sea. Edivo Navis Mysterium Amphora is unique because it has never seen light until it is first poured into a glass. Content: 0.75 l
Alcohol percentage: 15.5 % vol.
Additional information The wine is delivered in a matching handmade wooden box and a cast iron stand. After drinking the wine, you can of course leave the amphora in the stand as an eye-catcher in your home.
