This vintage is made from five local grape varieties: Bogdanuša, Pošip, Maraština, Prč and Muškat Žuti. Cesarica is full and aromatic, with tropical fruit, citrus and a fresh, beautifully balanced finish.
On the sun-drenched island of Hvar, the Carić family has been making wine for generations from grape varieties deeply rooted in Dalmatia. Cesarica is perhaps one of the finest introductions to this tradition: a distinctive blend of no fewer than five local grape varieties – Bogdanuša, Pošip, Maraština, Prč and the aromatic Muškat Žuti.
Bogdanuša forms the heart of the wine, bringing freshness and the distinctive character of Hvar. Pošip adds body and ripe fruit, while Maraština, Prč and Muškat Žuti contribute additional aroma and complexity. The result is a white wine that is both rich and refreshing, showcasing the remarkable diversity of Croatia's indigenous grape varieties.
Cesarica 2025 is full and aromatic, yet retains enough freshness to keep it lively and engaging. Ripe tropical fruit and citrus are complemented by subtle floral notes. The different grape varieties give the wine layers of flavour: juicy and approachable from the first sip, yet with enough structure and character to hold its own at the table.
This combination makes Cesarica particularly appealing to lovers of richer white wines who are looking to discover something beyond the familiar international grape varieties.
The name Cesarica can be translated as empress – a fitting name for a wine in which Vina Carić brings together several of Hvar's grape varieties. The label also tells a distinctly Croatian story. Its artwork is by Edo Murtić, one of Croatia's best-known twentieth-century artists.
Cesarica 2025 has also received international recognition. This vintage was awarded a Gold Medal at the Balkans International Wine Competition, a fitting accolade for a white wine that proudly expresses its own Dalmatian identity.
With its combination of ripe fruit, freshness and structure, Cesarica is remarkably versatile at the table. It pairs beautifully with grilled or pan-fried fish, shellfish, octopus and other Mediterranean seafood dishes. It also has enough body to complement creamy pasta, risotto, poultry and roasted vegetables.
Try Cesarica with gently spiced dishes or with traditional Dalmatian cuisine, where fish, olive oil, herbs and grilled vegetables often take centre stage. Serve at around 10–12 °C: cool enough to retain its freshness, but not ice-cold, allowing the wine's aromas and structure to show at their best.
