Wine Gift – Montiron & Nedija in Luxury Wooden Box

Two iconic Croatian whites in one refined gift set

This elegant wooden gift box with sliding lid contains two of Croatia’s finest white wines – both ranked among the Vivino Top 25. Montiron, from the renowned winery Medea in Istria, and Nedija, from Vina Carić on the island of Hvar, are not just award-winning wines – they’re reflections of place, passion and tradition. A truly memorable gift for lovers of exceptional white wine.

Montiron – Istria’s white jewel

Montiron is a single-vineyard wine made from the original Istarska Malvazija grape – not one of the many modern clones, but the authentic 200-year-old variety. The vines grow on the distinctive terra rossa (red soil) of the Montiron site, and are nearly 50 years old.

Winemaker Marko Krstačić describes the 2023 vintage as “drinking perfectly right now” – and it shows. The wine strikes a beautiful balance between youthful freshness and the complexity of an aged white. Its pale green-yellow colour leads into a nose of apple, pear, acacia blossom and delicate minerality. On the palate, you’ll find lemon, pink grapefruit, vanilla, soft toast and a touch of caramel. A refined acidity and long, layered finish complete the experience.

Montiron pairs wonderfully with shellfish, poultry, salmon, tuna steak, firm white fish, or elegant pasta dishes with fresh tomatoes. This wine has been honoured with a Decanter Silver Medal, Gold at Vinistra, and a 4.2 rating on Vivino – making it one of the highest-ranked whites from Croatia.

Nedija – a Dalmatian flagship in a bottle

The second wine in this set is Nedija, the flagship white from Vina Carić, a boutique winery on Hvar that has previously featured on the wine list at the three-Michelin-starred De Librije in the Netherlands. Crafted from three rare Dalmatian varieties – Prč, Pošip and Bogdanuša – this wine is produced in very small quantities: just 1,600 bottles per year.

Golden in the glass, Nedija reveals complex aromas of lemon zest, candied orange peel, white flowers and honey. The palate is creamy and broad, with an elegant bitterness reminiscent of grapefruit and almond. A hint of vanilla and refined minerality linger in the finish, making this wine as nuanced as it is original.

Nedija is a beautiful match for seafood and shellfish, but also pairs surprisingly well with almond-based desserts. The 2021 vintage received Gold at the Balkans International Wine Competition and was highlighted in Winelife Magazine as a standout island wine.
